Snips – News For Scotland – 17th April

NEWS FOR SCOTLAND & CLUB NEWS (GB2RS ) Extracts inc Additions

With Scottish Clubs returning to normal meeting details of club activities can usually be found on the individual club’s website. A summary of activities in Scotland can be found at wosars.club/radio-nets.

Stirling and District Amateur Radio Society is open today for antenna construction. There is a club night on Thursday from 7pm. secretary@gm6nx.com

On Tuesday Kilmarnock Amateur Radio Club has a meeting at the clubhouse and on Zoom at 7.30pm. GM0ADX, klarcinfo@gmail.com

Wednesday sees WoSARS’s Solder Group (the technical side of the Club) meet from 6pm onwards at the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Sauchiehall Street. Checkout wosars.club/licence-training for further details.

Lomond Radio Club has resumed club nights on Thursdays from 7.30pm at the JohnConnelly Centre in Renton. Simon MM0XME at mm0xme@outlook.com

Also this coming Friday, the West Scotland ARS,  WoSARS  are having presentation by Mark GM4ISM looking at applications of spectrum analysers and tracking generators. More information on the Club’s CALENDAR available at the Club’s website wosars.club.

With the resumption of the biggest amateur rally in the north of the UK – NASRA ; members of various clubs are heading down:

Notes: Another short clip from an old 1971 cassette tape, La Voix du Zaire in French with multiple station ID's. In the 1970's, I typically recorded stations in the hope of catching a station identification and a few details for a reception report. This one did help me get a nice QSL letter from the station.

Date of recording: 11/20/1971

Frequency: 15.245 MHz

RX location: Ancaster, Ontario, Canada

Receiver and antenna: Hallicrafters S-52 using a longwire antenna
