The RSGB ETCC takes a break over the festive season

The RSGB Emerging Technology Coordination Committee (ETCC) members will be taking a break from processing Notices of Variation and enquiries from 20 December until 3 January. They will reply to emails after that but please be patient as they work through any backlog.

The last of the RSGB’s Tonight@8 webinars for 2023 is on Monday the 11th of December. It focuses on amateur radio construction and the RSGB Construction Competition. Jenny Curtis M7JNY, Colin Murray GM4EAU, and David Law G0LBK will talk about the projects they worked on and why they decided to submit them to the RSGB Construction Competition in recent years. THE ‘BONNIE’ BANKS ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON

THE SMART NET

The Glasgow University Wireless Society runs a net on 145.525MHz on Mondays, from 6pm. All radio amateurs are welcome to join the net which is controlled by the club callsign GS4AGU. gm5aug@topple.scot

SOLDER SMOKE (AND EGM)

West of Scotland Amateur Radio Society will have its usual Solder Group meeting from 6pm on Wednesday. Members will be gathering at 8pm on Friday at the Society’s Rose Street rooms for a club night. Reception location: Columbus, Ohio

Receiver and antenna: Tecsun PL880 with telescopic antenna

Mode: Single Side Band

Notes: This is my recording of thunder chicken radio on 6.950 MHz, on October 16. I managed to record two pirate radio stations that night, the first one being this station, and then the second one being Smoky Dog Radio. This station was playing some music, and there were some slow scan television pictures, being transmitted as well. Recorded 8:13 PM Eastern
