Radio WMLK broadcasting in English on the shortwave frequency of 15150 kHz. Recording made in Europe July 5, 2023 at 0416 UTC using portable SONY ICF SW7600G receiver operating on bateries. As antenna only 2 meters of wire was used put on a tree outdoors.

KC2XIO was an experimental radio station operated by the National Bureau of Standards in Boulder, Colorado between July 1970 and May 1971. This was to gather information in preparation of the format change for WWV and WWVH which happened in July 1971. Here are two recordings of their voice announcement (one male and one female) as heard in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada on a Hallicrafters S-52 receiver that was hooked up to an outdoor longwire antenna. The frequency used for these test transmissions was 13560 kHz shortwave.

SUMMER RECESS
Kilmarnock and Loudon Amateur Radio Club is in summer recess and now meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month in its clubhouse at 34a Main Street, Crookedholm. During the recess, informal meetings will continue on Tuesdays and formal meetings will return on the 12th of September. The on-air quiz will return on Sunday the 3rd of September. The next RSGB live Tonight@8 webinar will take place at tomorrow night – 8pm on Monday the 3rd of July, with Eric P. Nichols, KL7AJ presenting “Receiving antennas are different”. Eric, who has written numerous amateur radio and electronics articles over the past 30 years, says that almost every ham radio station can benefit from a separate receiving antenna. Effective receiving antennas are optimised for best signal-to-noise ratio, not necessarily the greatest gain. MEET-UP
Wigtownshire Amateur Radio Club, together with Dumfries and Galloway RAYNET group, has an open net on GB3DG every day at noon. All are welcome. There is also a net on the GB3DG repeater every Thursday from 7.15pm, then joining via Zoom from 8pm. On Tuesday the 11th of July there will be a Wigtownshire Amateur Radio Club special event in-person meeting at The Mull of Galloway Gallie Craig Café. This will be a lunchtime and afternoon meet-up.
