BACKGROUND

As mentioned on our HOME page the Club has been in existence since 1970. However it’s lineage goes back further to the RADIO CLUB OF SCOTLAND and even before it’s creation.

THE GLASGOW AMATEUR RADIO EXHIBITION – 1951 .

The Rt. Hon. The Lord Provost of Glasgow Sir Victor Warren in Communication with GM3EDZ

In 1951 a group of prominent amateurs including some well known Club members – Alisdair – GM3AXX, Tommy – GM3EDZ and Fraser – GM3GNX organised an exhibition in Glasgow to promote amateur radio to the wider public and fellow amateurs.

This was a non RSGB Rally but was reported in the Society’s monthly magazine – The Bulletin
